Immigrant workers and students commemorate anniversary of ICE raid in Little Village and call to march on May Day for equality, labor rights, legalization for all and just immigration laws.

CHICAGO – Students, workers and families from Chicago will gather to tell the stories of their struggles Tuesday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Little Village Discount Mall at 26th and Albany to remember the ICE raids of 2007 and to energize the community for the May Day march and rally.

Chicago watches every year as thousands of immigration and worker’s right activists flood downtown on May 1st. This year, it is time to put pressure on the new administration to grant amnesty and provide a way for the legalization of more than 12 million of undocumented workers. The Comité 10 de Marzo, in conjunction with Labor unions from across the city, recognizes that without legalization there can be no equal workers’ rights.

On Tuesday, in the lead up to May Day, speakers will come together to call to march on May Day for immigration policy reforms that lead to equal rights for all, family unity, the end of raids and deportations, un-deputizing local authorities in immigration enforcement,  expedite path to permanent residency and lower costs to apply for citizenship.
