ARC'09 Movement Summit: May 2nd![]()
Marking the close of the first one hundred days of the new administration, the ARC'09 Movement Summit is intended to provide an opportunity for progressive activists to come together and take stock of the state of the world and the state of our movement.

The day will include plenaries, breakout sessions connecting our various struggles, and dozens of local and national activists as facilitators. There will also be a collective peoples arts exhibition, live art & multimedia, resource fair, and words by local MCs/poets Rebel Diaz and FM Supreme & Deja Taylor.

Some of the day's participants include:Carl Rosen, Western Region President of the United Electrical Workers, and co-organizer/supporter of the Republic Windows and Doors struggle.
Manju Rajendran, is with Females United For Action, young women and genderqueer youth from Chicago using media justice organizing to stop violence as part of the Women and Girls Collective Action Network. She is also a member of Ubuntu and Southerners On New Ground (SONG), and a contributor to Left Turn Magazine.
Christi Ketchum, Director of Atlanta-based Project South, youth organizer, and one of the coordinators and hosts for the U.S. Social Forum
Nadia Hijab, is a senior fellow at Institute for Palestinian Studies, a prominent Palestinian-American analyst, author and former journalist who comments frequently on human rights and the Middle East, and the situation of the Palestinians in particular. She is author of Womanpower: The Arab Debate on Women at Work
Barbara Ransby: historian, writer, activist and founding member of Ella's Daughters, a network of activists, artist, organizers, and educators working in Ella Baker’s tradition. One of the initiators of the Black Radical Congress in 1998 and a longtime feminist activist, Ransby is author of a biography of Ella Baker.
Bill Ayers: antiwar activist from 1960s to 2009, writer and educator for over thirty years. Author or co-author of 20 books and educational reform advocate.
Jorge Mujica: Journalist and community activist. Mujica has been an active member of the labor struggle working with United Electrical Workers Union and UNITE. Mujica was also a journalist for univision, La Raza and Telemundo. In 2007 Mujica was the recipient of the Freedom of Expression award.
