Immigrant Solidarity Dupage announces an 8 a.m. May 1st, "May Day" immigrant rights rally in Glen Ellyn at the Metra Station, 551 Crescent Boulevard, downtown Glen Ellyn. The rally entitled, "Now is the Time: Justice for Immigrants," will feature guest speakers, music and food, conmemorating May Day -- the international day of workers -- by standing up in solidarity with Dupage's immigrant community and demanding legalization of the nation's 12 million immigrant workers and
their families.
Immigrant Solidarity Dupage, in our commitment to20educating, organizing and uniting the community around the rights of immigrant workers and the Latino community in Dupage County, will feature speakers from our own group, along with guests from Dupage's religious and social justice community such as Tom Cordaro from Pax Christi Dupage in Naperville, Dave Martin and Siobhan Kolar from the Lombard-based West Suburban Faith-Based Peace Coalition and Kevin Lindemann from the Dupage Peace Through Justice Coaltion. The rally will a lso be attended by student activists (many of whom are from Dupage) from Northern Illinois University's Latino student group VALE. Folk singer/ activist Martin, will feature original music such as his song "There are No Illegal People," who will play along with local labor activist Benjamin Cline Villanueva, leading the rally in song chants such as "Solidarity Forever"; music will be sung in both
English and Spanish.
The event is designed to rally the immigrant community and their allies in Dupage while encouraging people to get on the train to join Immigrant Solidarity Dupage at the massive Chicago "May Day" rally and march for immigrant rights which kicks off at 10 a.m. in Union Park (Washington and Ashland). In a new political climate which seems to offer new promise, now more than ever we must come together on the streets with renewed energy and passion to show that we stand firm with the nation's underclass of immigrant workers and their families.

Comite Solidaridad Dupage anuncia reunión en la estación de tren el día 1ro de mayo a las 8 am en la estación de Metra de Glen Ellyn, 551 Crescent bulevar, en el centro de la ciudad. La reunión llamada “Ahora es el Tiempo: Justicia para los Inmigrantes” destacara oradores invitados, música y comida conmemorando el día 1ro de mayo, día internacional de los trabajadores, exigiendo la legalización de 12 millones de trabajadores inmigrantes y de sus familias en la nación.
Comite Solidaridad Dupage-- en nuestra mision de organizar, educar y unir a la comunid ad alrededor de las derechos de trabajadores inmigrantes y la comunidad de Latina en el condado de Dupage, invito para el evento aliados especiales de la comunidad religiosa, estudiantil y pro la paz en Dupage tal como Tom Cordaro de Pax Christi Dupage en Naperville, Dave Martin y Siobhan Kolar del grupo pacifista- cristana West Suburban Faith-Based Peace Coalicion basada en Lombard y Kevin Lindemann de la Coalicion Pro la Paz de Dup age. El acontecimiento se diseño para reunir a la comunidad inmigrante y a sus aliados en Dupage mientras animamos al pueblo que nos acompane a la marcha masiva en Chicago. Juntos tomaremos el tren en Glen Ellyn a la ciudad de Chicago a la marcha de Comite 10 de Marzo que arranca a la 10a.m. en el parque Unión (Washington y Ashland).
