Press release

>>>     MARCH AND PROTEST  >>>     WEDNESDAY July 8, 2009

Press contact:  Rev. José S. Landaverde        (773) 968-4258

When: Wednesday July 8, 2009 at 10:50 a.m.

Where: From 3442 W. 26th Street Chicago, to 6245 S. Archer Ave., Chicago

On Wednesday, July 8, 2009, immigrants and immigration advocates will walk 6 miles, from Little Village to Congressman Dan Lipinski’s office on Archer Ave., to protest his position regarding immigration reform.

The march and protest in front of Lipinski’s office is being called by the Our Lady of Guadalupe Anglican Catholic Mission. The protesters will depart from the Mission, located at 3442 W. 26th Street, at 10:50 a.m., marching on 26th Street to Pulaski Ave, on Pulaski to Archer and on Archer to Lipinski’s offices, located at 6245 S. Archer Avenue.

The protesters will ask Dan Lipinski to support immigration reform. The Congressman has opposed legalization for millions of immigrants, despite representing a district with over 40 percent foreign-born population. Protests against Lipinski will continue until he agrees to fully support immigration reform.

Last week a committee from the Mission delivered an open letter (attachment) to Illinois Congressmen Dan Lipinski at his offices in Washington, D.C., and will seek a response at the end of the march.
