Dear friends and colleagues:
If you ever saw the program En Contexto from Telemundo you saw what a good journalist Vicente is. He has helped us bring out issues for discussion that really affect the Latino community: immigration, domestic violence, child abuse, government, etc., and most recently, the flu epidemic.
I don't know what happened, but his program has been cancelled. Please let Telemundo know having Vicente on In Contexto has made a difference in terms of providing the community with accurate information, and issues explored in depth. Write, call, or go to the rally tomorrow. See below.
Here is Telemundo Chicago's address and tel. Number:
454 N Columbus Dr
Chicago, IL 60611
Please protect your friends against spam. Don't put multiple addresses in
the CC part. Instead, put their addresses in the BBC part so the addresses
don't show. Thanks.

Subject: VICENTE SERRANO
PLEASE FORWARD TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU!!!!
As Vicente Serrano has just confirmed, he is no longer with En Contexto
with Vicente Serrano on Telemundo. Last night when I noticed that Vicente
was not on En Contexto, I decided that I would call Telemundo and ask as to
why nothing was said in regards to where Vicente was-if he was on vacation
or somehow coming back at later time. His name, too, was also removed from
the graphics of the program, which caused me to worry. Today, I have
already called Telemundo three times to find out what has happened to
Vicente. Although the receptionist, Maria, was very nice to me and
connected me with the direct line of the News Director, I feel that it was
no coincidence that each time that she did so, my call was disconnected.
Not having Vicente Serrano on En Contexto is a great tragedy for the Latino
Community, as it is for Greater Chicago. How many other journalists or
reporters, like Vicente have the courage to speak up and ask the questions
that the people and community need answered? How many have the courage and
dignity to talk to government officials and politicians alike, making them
accountable for their actions? How many journalists take the time to
really listen to the voice and needs of our community? Vicente is voice
the people rely upon to speak up and out on behalf of justice.
As Vicente has supported and enriched our community with his actions and
direct, no-nonsense journalism, I believe it is now time for us to show our
support of Vicente Serrano as a community. We need to come and show our
moral and physical support of Vicente, now more than ever! Please show
your support of Vicente Serrano-come and join us tomorrow; May 6th, at
3:30pm at 454 N. Columbus Drive, Downtown Chicago. If you have any
questions, please feel free to call me at 773-824-0067. Sincerely, Yvette
A. Soto
