* At some point of time emails started surfacing which claimed this to be a UNESCO campaign. That is why UNESCO has to put a disclaimer on its website, isnt't it? Otherwise why should UNESCO be bothered about it.
* Secondly this 7 wonders is all a typical capitalist coporate gameplan, which aims only at fooling people and making money; as follows
- The cellphone companies are profiting
- Tourism industry (which is largely controlled by large multinationals in developed countries) will benefit
- Seems they did not get enough money in initial years, thats why it goes on for 5-6 years
- In the name of national pride, people are doing nothing but spending money on SMS and phone and forwarding and reading emails ; productive time is being wasted.
- People who are voting are elite upper classes who have money. The vast majority of the world is poor who have no access to cellphones. so the poll anyways does not reflect the world's views. Hmm... even if the poor could vote, they really dont know about any of these "wonders" .. so the whole game of deciding the wonders by any means is false.
- Do you know how all these wonders were built? Do you know how Taj Mahal was built -- do you know that the hands of the words were cut after they built the Taj Mahal ? .. Do you really want to vote for it ?..
I honestly encourage people not to vote.

So, how does that matter if UNESCO is not involved. It was not involved when old seven wonders were there.
That website never claims it is associated with UNESCO or any sucj bidy.
As per my view, they are doing a survey. Bigger the sample space, survey will be more fair. It simply represents the people voting for it, thats all. Looks like they have a nice marketing manager now, otherwise it started some 5-6 years back (not sure, vaguly remember)
Anyway, if you feel like voting, vote otherwise no need. :)
