It is really heartening to learn that many of us are taking up some work for the society. In this regard I would like to write about two persons: My senion from REC warangal Mr. Padmanabhan (now at UT austin) and my friend (REC Trichy ,2004) Ms Maheswaran.

He is 2001 RECW EEE pass out. He is  running a marathon to raise funds for the  underprivileged in India. Here is what he has to say

About me in ISHA, its going fantastically. Doing the software for maintaining Action for Rural Rejuvenation's Database. 

 I would like to tell you few words about this

Action for Rural Rejuvenation is the project launched by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev for Rejuvenating the rural India, in many levels.

 

This being done through various projects like

      Mobile Health Clinic – provides timely cost effective health care and    

              guides & creates awareness about the same. Functions in 1100 villages of

             Tamilnadu and 50 villages in Kartanaka. Going to be launched in one of the

                Andra pradesh district , Delhi and Mumbai Slum areas also.

 

      Project Green Hands – Aims to plant Trees (1,00,00,000 Trees –which is to  cover 10%  Land area of Tamilnadu) and to Create Herbal Gardens in all the villages of

          Tamil Nadu (India). As you know this is very much required right now to reduce

           the impact (desertification, etc) in the  earth due to man made interventions in the natural systems("global warming").

 

       Games: To Raise the spirit among the people by making them to play. Conducts

             Regular inter-village tournaments and festival called  "Grama Utsav"

 

         Yoga Classes: For physical and mental well being of rural people, various

                     Programs like Hata yoga, Meditation are given.

          

The latest project launched is: " Model Village Creation"

                       Which will rejuvenate the 13000 Panchayat villages of TamilNadu in 10    years by doing the following activities,

                Health care, Sanitation, Sports & Recreation centre, Yoga Shalas & Gymnasium, Village Library, Computer center, Afforestration & Environmental Education, Water conservation & Rainwater Harvesting, Model Herbal Gardens, Village Nursery, Vocational Training for Women & men, Child care & old age home, And Infrastructure & Economy Development Programs.

             I am very much proud to say that I am also being involved in such an activity.

 

As  Sadhguru says " It is just that these things have not happened, not because we don't have the resources, these things have not happened because We Never Cared. WE NEVER CARED. We think somebody else is suffering, it is not our suffering. Till it comes to us We Never Care".

 

   I Know  you  will understand and appreciate the necessity and enormity of this . And I am  now involved in making people come together, wherever they are in meaningful ways .Even your thought may create the possibility to make this happen.  You can see the scope involves enormous amount of money men and material .Sadhguru has been making the preparations for under taking such a venture for the past 15 years to create the necessary conditions to make this a reality. Presently there are 100 centers in all major towns and cities of Tamilnadu and also in other states like Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra pradesh, Mumbai and Delhi. Centres are there in U.S, Lebenon, Germany, Singapore

There are 3 lakh volunteers to involve in this cause. There are 1100 Organisers in these villages. What we lack is funds. We are now looking at various possibilities to generate the funds. Your ideas /sugessions/ contribututions are welcome..
