Flooding caused by monsoon rains has killed 69 people in western
India in the past three days, and caused tens of thousands to flee
their homes.
Several places in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and parts of
Madhya Pradesh are deluged.
The rains have affected over 5,400 villages and damaged 67,000
houses in the Maharashtra. More than one lakh people have been
evacuated so far.

Five columns of army, which were called in on Monday, have swung
into action with boats and life-jackets, evacuating and rescuing
people trapped on roof-tops of submerged houses in water-logged
areas, the sources said.

why are we in India forever waiting for floods to happen before we
act, cant we do anything before hand such as planting more trees,
preventing deforestation etc...???
well the polci are never prepared for anything and its always the
army to the rescue. what will happen if the mighty Indian Army isnt
there to fall back on?? chaos and all netas will get kicked around
probably.

ok.

But the big question is that wat r we as indians prepared to
do??????????

We, a small student group in Jabalpur r trying to organise a
disaster management workshop and prayers for victims of floods in
our place.We will collect funds and donate it to regional
administration of affected areas.......
We hope that this will ignite a chain of similar responses all over
the country in this crucial time................

When any one in our family expires than all celebrations r discarded
for months........................WHEN 1/4th OF THE MOTHERLAND IS
FLOODED AND THOUSANDS OF OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS R DYING OUT
THERE,IS IT FAIR TO CELEBRATE IN NORMAL WAY.....................LET
US CELEBRATE OUR FATERNITY AND UNITY IN OUR RAKHI AND INDEPENDENCE
