                        BHARAT UDAY MISSION
                               MUMBAI CHAPTER
                                        PROUDLY PRESENTS

JUHU BEACH - CLEANLINESS DRIVE                       PART 2
                                      ON 30TH OF JULY 2006.

After the Enthusiastic Response to the cleanliness drive last saturday, we decided to continue our relation further with the beach of Mumbai. Hope we get to see a better turn out this time.

Mumbai is ranked one of the most polluted cities in the world. With huge population density and lack of commitment from BMC for cleanliness is making the crisis worst. Pollution is everywhere, in Air, in Water, in Land with various forms. It is affecting day to day life of a Mumbaikar putting them at huge health risk. Also we face bigger crisis like floods destroying the routine life of the city.
At Bharat Uday Mission, our goal is construct a better society. We are constantly putting our efforts at various social and political levels to improve the life of average man, a true reflection of India. Taking pollution is one big social issue; group has decided to go for a cleaning drive. Our goal is to clean the city and also create some awareness about cleanliness. Our first mission on the the lines is cleaning part of Juhu Beach, pride of Mumbai but one of the dirtiest beach in the country.

2. MOM Of BM Pune Chapter
MOM (Minutes of Meeting)

All Hands Meet (AHM) 22nd of July, 2006

MIT-SOG Premises, Kothrud

No. of participants : 25

New members : 3

Hello friends,
On 22/07/06 we i.e Bharat Uday Mission (Pune Chapter) had our
2nd All Hands Meet .

As the time is passing by, we are growing and getting
better towards our aims and objectives. At this AHM we came across
lot of things about us like where we are facing problems, where we
lack in and what are our ideas to take BM_Pune forward. Till now we
are not clear about our exact goals and objectives. I mean we don't
have single answer for this. At this meeting we got the answer.

The AHM was conducted at the MIT-SOG premises. For availing
this place, we cordially thank Shri. Vishnu Swaminathan, Student, MIT-
SOG. It started around 9.15 am. with the National Anthem, followed by
a brief introductory speech by Vihang which was followed by
Hrishikesh's brief introduction about BM_Pune for the new members.
This was later followed by Rohan's introduction about the Activity
Guidelines drafted by BM_Pune for its future goals and objectives. In
this AHM we have arranged some guest lectures also which started
around 10.30 am.

Shri. Amol Phadke (working with Arthkranti Pratishthan, Pune)

Arthkranti Pratishthan is working and trying very hard to improve the
financial instability in the country. Mr Amol Phadke is an active
member of Arthkranti Pratishthan and from his lecture we came to know
lot of unknown aspects and loop holes within the Financial Scenario
of the country though we did not get all the Economical terms. What
he wanted to say was really correct, that finance is very important
aspect in the growth of any country. That is why the Arthkranti
people are striving hard to get their ideas implemented within the
government so that it can help remove the financial instability of
the country.

Shri. Mohan Shete (member of Itihaas Premi Mandal, Pune)

Shri. Mohan Shete is working as a History teacher in Pune. As a
member of Itihaas Premi Mandal, Shri.Shete and other members of this
Mandal are trying hard to inculcate the important and unknown aspects
of our Golden History into the children and ignorant people like us.
They do this by arranging Trekking for the children and take them to
various historical places and forts and show them how our history is.
Because of Shri. Shete we came to know what understanding and knowing
our history really means. He said in his lecture that "if you want to
go ahead just look behind and first try to learn what your history
wants to teach you, than only you can go forward in life". He also
said that what we all lack in our countrymen is LOVE for our country.
If we want to make our country prosperous than we should first learn
how to love our country.

Shri. Vishnu Swaminathan (student, MIT-SOG)

Whenever we talk about any ideal in our life or any true source of
inspiration then names of some of the famous people from the history
will come to our mind. But in his presentation, Shri. Vishnu talked
about few people for whom a common Indian became a source of
inspiration. One of those example is of N.Krishnan.
He is a gold medalists in catering and got offer from
Switzerland. By chance he came across one poor old man in rags who
was having his food from roadside bin. This man in rags somehow
became a source of inspiration for N.Krishnan and he started kitchen
for the poor people in his backyard and daily feeds them with his own
hands.

Like N.Krishnan other people who dared to live out their
dream of changing the society in some different manner irrespective
of their caste and status are Shri. Adhikari (rickshawpuller, gets
books for poor children from his pocket every week) , Smt. Anuradha
Gobardhan Bakshi (daughter of an IAS officer, runs a school in the
Delhi slums. Source of inspiration is Manu, a mentally handicapped
child),
Shri Savitri Kannan (common man, runs school for 150 children in his
home from his own pocket),
Shri Arvind Kejriwal (working with Central Government, trying to
change the corrupt internal working structure of the government by
being a part of it).

All the above mentioned people are really a source of
inspiration for all of us who wants to change the society in some way
or the other and only these people stand true for the quote Mahatma
Gandhi gave "Be the change what you want to see in the world"

This was how all the guest lectures ended encouraging our idea to
change the society as well as country. It is not an easy task to do.
We will constantly need help from people like Shri.Shete Sir, Shri.
Amol Phadke and Shri Vishnu Swaminathan, Sadhana Madam and all other
members and guests present at the meeting.
After the lectures, normal question hour was conducted for
all the newly joined members in BM_Pune chapter. This hour helped us
to get some questions for which we will have to be prepared from next
time onwards. We got lot of ideas and suggestions from all the people
who were present there. Some of the very interesting and correct
questions raised for us to answer were :

1.at the end, what is the main aim of BM?
2.why BM wants its representatives to work for other NGO's?
3.why can't BM decide and follow its own ideologies?

What we learned?
1.we will have to improve our way of organizing any meeting.
2.ideas and goals of BM should be same and clear in the minds of all
the BM members.
3.need to improve participation of more and more people in BM.
4.BM can act as an event manager for other NGO's.

P.S. : Any correction or ideas regarding this MOM are welcome.

Jai Hind
