Introduction - Questions - facebook/website.

Hello all, wanted to introduce myself.
I have been a member here for years but have not been active until now.
I was born and raised in the NYC area.
My Grandmother, Blima Makower, was born and raised in Zychlin. During the war, she was first in the Warsaw ghetto, then on the run. She survived with a few siblings, all the rest were, of course, killed in Zychlin or Chelmno. She moved here to NYC after the war, as well as her surviving siblings.

I have been doing quite a bit of research lately, inspired by a cousin who went to visit Poland recently, and so wanted to introduce myself here. I have not yet gone to Poland, but I might like to go with the trip being organized by Leon in 2022 (tentatively), and I want to gather all information about Zychlin as is possible by then!

(1) Firstly: I have seen mention of the desire in the group to create a website or Facebook group, so that all can post pictures/memories/Zychlin materials for all to see. As a former computer tech, I have experience not only in websites, but also have started and run quite a few Facebook groups. I would definitely be up for starting either...I think it's crucial, as the current descendant generation (the 2000's-born "gen Z" so to speak) are not familiar with Google groups and List-Serves such as this...they are the "Facebook" and "Instagram" generation, and if they are to be involved at all, I think it's important to make all this Zychlin information available to them in a format they know how to consume. Facebook would probably be very optimal, and if desired, I can easily set up and administrate A "Zychlin Roots" Facebook group. Pictures could be posted to it easily by members, as well as videos, documents, etc. Someone mentioned they had a VHS of the 1990s dedication of the headstone in the Zychlin Jewish Cemetery...even that can be converted to digital and uploaded easily. Many possibilities. I also have found a whole host of online resources regarding Zychlin that I could post to such a group for everyone's reference. (There is a tiny learning curve, but Facebook is fairly easy even for the less tech-inclined).

(2) Between my recent research, and a lot of online reading, including perusing the "Sefer Zychlin" memorial book, available online, a whole host of questions I have been wondering about...would appreciate any information:

(2a) Do any Zychliner societies still exist? I see the primary one in Tel Aviv, the "Irgun Yotzei Zychlin Beyisrael UbeAmerica", the "Organization for Zychlin Emigres in Israel and America" mentioned in Sefer Zychlin and elsewhere, but that was in the 70s...does it still exist, and who helms it? I noted someone on here a decade ago "IMY KUVENT" perhaps, saying he or she was now administrating the group...is that person still here and involved?

(2b) I know there was a Zychliner society with burial plots in Farmingdale, Long Island...does it still exist, and if so, who helms that? I do recall a post on here with a member who was moving to Florida and who got rid of some Zychlin materials...but didn't see any further posts.

(2c) Does anyone know if any of those involved with authoring Sefer Zychlin on behalf of the Tel Aviv organization, namely "Yaakov Ben-Bina", "Rivka Kanarik", or "Moshe Zieger" (Last names may be wrong, transliterated from the Hebrew) are still alive?

Hi Misha, thanks for your late awakening :)

Responding to your questions/remarks:

1) I am a software developer, and I also alternate activity periods with hiatuses. I have several places of research interest, and honestly I invest more on my mother's side since in the Polish side is a lot easier to make progress (as I indeed did). 

But I have also started to retake my old projects such as the site idea - and have been revamping what is todays https://kehilalinks.jewishgen.org/sokiryany/index.html , into https://sites.google.com/view/veverke-genealogy/sokiryany . As you can see there, I plan to do the same with my other places of interest (which also happen to have google groups I created in the past like this one).

Unfortunately I can't give time estimates, as this always relies in how much time I have in between tasks at office (my full time work).

2 (and remaining)) From my experience with Sokiryany - which the Israeli society building I visited somewhere back in 2009, nothing really remains of it. It is, unfortunately, reasonable... the individuals once active must be around their 80s today, if alive... and these kind of activity is not of much interest in the 3rd/4th generations (I am an exception, to my disappointment). One can try to trace where the living individuals live to try to reach their descendants, but again, most of the times the descendants have not much to add, if anything.
