ZXing Decoder Online problem

When I enter a url which points to an image of a valid QR code, I am
presented with dialog screens which want me to download some 'decode'
information.

Very very similar to a regular download but I do not have a 'Save'
button. Instead I get 'Search', Save or Cancel buttons.

On my girlfriends pc it just decodes. No problem.
Anyone got any idea what may cause this difference in behaviour ?

Sounds like it doesn't understand the content type of the result page,
which should be simple text or HTML. (Could still be a bug but I think
I set the content type correctly.) What browser/platform? by any
chance is it an older version of IE? I have heard it has a bug wherein
it doesn't recognize the application/xhtml+xml content type.

I is the latest IE, version 8.
I have been experiencing it for a week now.
Other behaviour on other pages/sites is normal.

If I save what it wants to download ('decode.') then I do get some raw
decoding information which I can open in notepad but, as you correctly
state, it seems that it doesn't understand the content type of the
result page.

OK I changed the web app to deliver content as text/html and used a
less 'advanced' DOCTYPE. Try again?

Wonderful ! This works for me but I do hope this is not a sub-optimal
solution for you...
