UWP ZXing Scanner stops working after App window is minimized

I have a HoneyWell External QR Code Scanner in a Xamarin UWP app.

Every time I minimize a window and wait a few seconds, when the onSleep event is triggered the scanner does not react to anything. I've tried to re-initialize the scanner onResume, but that does not seem to help.

Has anyone faced a similar issue? How did you solve it?
