barcode scanner not working

on my sony xperia e. camera held over the barcode - I tried it on a number of items - and I see the red line across the page, and a little yellow dot dancing about, but no joy. HAve now uninstalled it - neither this nor blippar worked, and I am a busy man. it works or it doesnt/.  No second chances
