BarcodeReader takes lambda expressions

Can someone tell me when there is the need to pass your own lambda expressions to the BarcodeReader to change it's default behaviour? (I'm using the c# port btw. I'm not sure if this is the same as core).

That's the wrong forum for your question. ZXing.Net (where BarcodeReader class comes from) has it's own project page.
But the answer for your question is the following: You need the lambda expression if you want to use a different luminance source or binarizer than that one that BarcodeReader uses by default.
