This is a function of the browser / OS. I don't think it can be controlled by the caller.

   I thought the link  zxing://scan/?ret=http...  can acts like an usual link, and can be opened in the same tab...

I'm having the same "issue"  i think it is caused by an external app "launching" the browser with the callback url.  It would be good if the app could be modified to have an additional parameter of a target, then I could name my window and pass that name to the zxing app.  I would guess the method that they launch the url with, would have a target and could assign the name to that....
