Dear Zero Waste crew,

I too may not attend the meeting - I am on the road all this week and will not be back home until late Saturday.

As one of the founders of the Zero Waste movement, I am disappointed that ZWIA has fallen into the trap of supporting businesses and politicians whose objectives are clearly contrary to those of ZWIA as it creators intended in Wales in 2003.

As Mal suggests in his submitted paper, we need to defend the name if it is to have any credibility in the world community. Alliances with weapons manufactures and dictators is anathema to such credibility.

A new organisation based in either Europe or the Global South (Brazil) run by a group of young people with vision and focus, is what I feel is needed. I am happy to support such a group if it is established. I will openly discredit ZWIA if it continues to align itself with groups, businesses or countries which operate on a basis contrary to the clear needs of humanity

But I hope somebody will help to put the papers I’ve written on the table for discussion and to recommend that any new organisation or arrangement that’s made is sent around Switzerland to be neutral to counter this brand attack from various interests not least the Turkish government. Good luck with your discussions I really do think that the future is Zero Waste hangs in a balance and these decisions will be crucial going forward.
