Dear Zero Waste Advocates:

On behalf of the Global Zero Waste Consortium & Race to Zero Waste, we’re pleased to present two virtual events and Conversations on the International Day of Zero Waste. This year's focus is on Food Waste reduction and composting.The discussions will bring together voices from around the world to explore how zero waste initiatives are evolving internationally and what it will take to strengthen this movement moving forward.

The virtual event is free, with a suggested donation. 

Option 1 at 10am CEST: Meeting Registration - Zoom

A sneak peak of a few speakers: 

IKA AKMALA - Dompet Dhuafa (Indonesia)
Ika is an environmental advocate and community organizer, blending grassroots movements with impactful climate action. Passionate about sustainability, she coordinates large-scale volunteer programs at Dompet Dhuafa, empowering thousands to drive change in Indonesia.

DAVID NGIGE - Dajopen Waste Management Solutions (Kenya)
David has vast experience in Organic farming, Agro ecology farming, Agroforestry farming and waste recycling. A social enterprise trainer in charge of community Research, production and Marketing of Agricultural recycled products in Kitale Kenya, he is also a member of North Rift Regional centre of expertise headquartered at University of Eldoret. He a member of Africa Centre of Regional Expertise and Global Regional Centre of expertise.

PAL MARTENSSON - World Cleanup Day (Sweden) 
Pal is a global leader in Zero Waste with decades of experience in waste management and resource recovery. Founder of the world’s largest ECO/REUSE park, he’s a board member of ZWIA and Let’s Do It World, playing a key role in World Cleanup Day.

MIKE EWALL, ESQ. - Energy Justice Network (USA)
Mike supports communities to transition from polluting energy and waste facilities to clean energy and zero waste systems. His work has led to the defeat of dozens of waste incinerators and other proposed dirty energy and waste facilities. With backing of hundreds of groups, he is currently leading efforts to get the U.S. EPA to reverse their many pro-incinerator policies.

TONY RÍOS - Coalición de Reciclaje de Puerto Rico 
He is a sustainability expert and special assistant to the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources. With decades of experience in solid waste management, he has led key projects and policies promoting circular economy and climate action.

CLARA CAPIBERIBE - Zero Waste Youth Brazil 
Clara Capiberibe is a Youth Ambassador for Zero Waste Brazil and a director of socio-environmental projects, as well as being involved in national and international initiatives focused on climate action, political participation and women’s rights. Her work combines communication, engagement and social transformation through the lens of Amazonian youth.

DR. SAMI ROMANICK - Environmental Working Group (USA) 
Dr. Samantha Romanick, a molecular biologist, studies the effects of microplastic exposure on human health. She is dedicated to curbing plastic pollution through community education, sustainable initiatives, and leading the Microplastic Workgroup of Western New York.
