Dear Global Zero Waste Community:

I'm thrilled to tell you about an exciting week my organization, Race to Zero Waste has been organizing since last summer! We have partnered with Broward Clean Air to host Zero Waste Week & Forum in South Florida along with our friends from Debris Free Oceans. We will host an entire week of events to take place between March 30-April 3, 2025, such as a beach cleanup and microplastic study, Sustainability Tour at the University of Miami, an educational Zero Waste Forum at the Anne Kolb Nature Center, and a TRUE Zero Waste Workshop. If you'd like to attend the Zero Waste Forum in person April 1st & 2nd, we can offer you a 15% discount code.

On April 1st at the Anne Kolb Nature Center, we're excited that Amanda Waddle from the Repurpose Project will be talking about the Gainesville Zero Waste Ordinance & The Repurpose Project Expansion & Elaine Franklin from City of Hollywood will talk about reducing single-use plastic.

There are so many events, you won't want to miss out!

About the Zero Waste Forum
The Zero Waste Forum is more than an event—it’s a movement. As part of Race to Zero Waste’s mission to build an equitable and accessible circular economy, this forum provides a platform for global collaboration. Taking place at the Anne Kolb Nature Center, the 2025 Forum will host inspiring speakers, hands-on workshops, sustainability tours, and dynamic discussions that engage local, national, and international audiences.
Additionally, we are excited to offer our Sustainability in Action Awards to youth leaders:
  • Emerging Leader Award (15-27 years old) – individual
  • Advocacy Award – individual
  • Regenerative Communities Award – individual or group with no age restriction
Impactful Voices Leading the Charge
The Forum brings together changemakers who are shaping the future of sustainability. Below are some of our speakers and advocates that have received scholarships to be able to attend and speak:
  • Skye Williams (USA): Skye is a passionate advocate for community stewardship and environmental justice. As a proud member of Rural Roots Louisiana and a soon-to-be graduate of Donaldsonville High School, Skye is dedicated to raising awareness about the critical connection between environmental sustainability and public health.
  • Michael Karapetian (USA): The 23-year-old Great Global Cleanup Coordinator for EARTHDAY.ORG has spearheaded efforts to remove millions of pounds of trash worldwide and advocates for systemic change in reducing plastic waste.
  • Iuliia Markhel (Ukraine): A visionary leader of Let’s Do It Ukraine, uniting 3.5 million Ukrainians in environmental activism. Her efforts include humanitarian projects and raising awareness about the ecological impact of war.
These speakers exemplify the power of collaboration, innovation, and commitment to a more circular future.
Resourcefully,
Teresa Bradley
