Hello all,

I'm just getting started with Z-wave. I have ZVS running through the Eventghost plugin using the Aeon Z-stick controlling an Aeon Smart Strip. The Smart Strip has the capability to control 4 of its 6 outlets individually, as well as the whole strip simultaneously. Currently, ZVS only recognizes the latter function.

I've found this issue discussed in the Vera & SmartThings forums, those systems having apparently been recently updated to support such "multichannel devices" .

Is this something that will be added to ZVS in the near future, or is there some way to enable this functionality in the current program?

The Smart Strip is potentially a very handy device. I could employ 1 or 2 more immediately if the individual outlet control can be utilized.

Thanks for any & all info.

Are the Openzwave guys saying its supported in their library?  If so, zvs can support it.

I am working on zvs 8.0 and I include the latest build of openzwave with it when its complete.

Aaron, thanks for the quick reply.

I couldn't find it among the list of supported items. I don't know how often the database is updated, but this product has been on the market for about a year. I suppose I'll need to ask this question there.

I did actually figure out how to get the individual outlets to respond. Remember I'm new, so bear with me in what is undoubtedly a rudimentary description. Perhaps this will help some other noobs at least get started getting some use out of the thing.

Basically the 4 outlets exist as settable parameters on the device command screen - 4 unidentified "set basic" parameters in which the values can be set to "0" for off and "255" for on. They can be set up to operate in tasks this way, but you have to know which "set basic" command controls each switch. They list in descending order, outlets 4,3,2,1 counting down from the power button end of the strip, 6 and 5 being the non-controllable outlets.

I'm guessing that ZVS treats this configuration as settings for the main switch in the same way it would for a dimmer switch - a main off/on with integer value parameters for brightness. In this case there are 4 "dimmers" with "brightness" values of either "on" or "off".

Furthermore, if any individual outlet is turned off, the device will show as being off in the device list, even though the other remaining outlets will stay on. Likewise, the event string delivered to Eventghost by the plugin is the same regardless of whether you shut off a single outlet or the whole strip.

Values for what is apparently energy usage are also listed in unidentified fields on the command list.

I'll post any more findings as I discover them and as I become better educated on this stuff.

Thanks again.
