This is a forum to discuss i suppose.... and to discuss things related to swiss.... makes no harm discussing their economy a little....

Well i think its not the rupee thats appreciating as the our growth is at low and the inflation at high.... european markets especially swiss are not that attached to the world economy ....so it is possible that the recession in the US economy due to sub-prime crisis that had affected indian economy must have started affecting europe now.....

Ok I think I didn't put my point across. wht I meant was does it really matter why it is falling? I mean its beneficial for us and if someone would have googled this before asking then he would have came to similiar conclusion already and then would have put it up as an opinion rather a question. Anyways I tend to be more proactive before asking question..guess its just me. Go on discuss it out.....

well i think i might have put the question wrongly.
according to my perception the sub prime crisis might not be
responsible for this "sudden and drastic fall".
also indian markets are more insulated than the european markets
including the swiss markets and many of swiss banks have already
posted losses in few billion franks in the last two quarters, so
nothing new has happened.

when i checked some two weeks ago, the frank is around 41-42 range and
in a matter of two weeks a drop in 2rs,i thought was something
drastic.

@kshitij
I think european markets are more exposed to US economy more than
indian markets.
never heard any of the indian banks posting losses in the scale of
billions of dollars which happened in UK and Swiss.

anyways a fall in the exchange rate would be beneficial for everyone
of us,

Internet is believed to be a truly democratic technology. Every one has freedom of speech which some times translates to freedom of speech + freedom to scream, shout or burp in your neighbor's ear.

Well CHF has fallen, it was a valuable information but I do not think the subtle economic reasons have any immediate bearing for the members and purpose of the group.

Sub prime crisis is a good word. Quite a hep word I should say but at the end the discussion had a big dubious "may be" attached to all the arguments without anything to make out of them.

Indeed this is a forum for open discussion related to Switzerland. I suggest following topics:

* Udders of Swiss cows
* Are there shakti kapoor fans in switzerland (and why)?
* Do they show aaj tak?

(Members interested in "discussion" are invited to add on to the list)

Hehe.

What about " dilli ki sardi " then ?

just kidding

As we are heading to Switzerland, we want the CHF to be as "cheap" as
possible.
And I am quite sure that while we plan a return from there to India,
most of us
will be hooting for the CHF to be as "expensive" as possible, right ?

So don't worry guys, just like anything else currency has it's way of
balancing out too.

Still if you have nothing else to do (besides visiting xe.com each day
i mean) , then
go ahead one of topics enlisted my Prateek :D.
