Ok, the first piece of software you need for any windows platform is a
registry editor. You will find advice elsewhere in this group on
making changes to the registry, it might be to change the behaviour of
the backlight or to set the program that runs when you first turn on
your device. There are all kinds of cool things you can do by tweaking
the registry but BEWARE, you can loose information or worse by
changing the wrong setting in the Registry, so you should always
backup your Registry before you change anything.
