I noticed my child figured out the screen time passcode and had changed the set limits on their phone. So I went onto my device and changed the passcode under their name in family sharing. It did not change the passcode on their device and they are still able to override screen time with my old passcode. Why did the passcodes not sync?? HELP!

I understand that you are concerned about the Screen Time and passcode features on your child's device. The following guide offers steps in the Set Content & Privacy Restrictions section that should be helpful:

My touch screen on iPhone 6s plus is broken. I just want to remove the passcode. I am not worried about backing up data. Phone/number has already been transitioned to a new phone and so does not appear on iCloud but does appear in devices on apple ID. Only option is to remove the device.

Hi there, Aaron Nickolette!
Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are needing to remove the passcode from your iPhone with a broken screen and I am happy to help out! I recommend taking a look at this article with steps to follow If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled. This will give you the steps to take to remove the passcode.
Also, take a look at this article to Check your Apple ID device list to see where you're signed in to be sure once you have removed the passcode. This will also show you how to remove the device if it happens to be showing.
Cheers!

I just upgraded to ios12. Screen Time was enabled by default. I want to turn it off. It demands a pass code. Obviously, I never set a pass code for Screen Time, since it didn't exist prior to the upgrade.

You can use to look at your phone backup to identify the restrictions password. Unfortunately, it only works on iOS11 backups, so if you don't have that on your system, you will first need to downgrade your device (back to iOS 11), then make a backup, and run pinfinder on that backup.

Fortunately, my latest guess,1111, was the correct pass code. I doubt that is an Apple default. Maybe it was inherited from messing around with Restrictions long ago (which I don't remember doing) or from General > Accessibility > Guided Access which was on and also has a four digit pass code. If that's the case, then really dumb move on Apple's part to use settings from a different feature to determine whether Screen Time is on and what its pass code is.

Wow, HUGE bug of iOS 12. I never setup screen time, yet it is enabled and with a password... If completely deleting my device and starting from square one... that better not be the answer. Also, what does that mean for my iPad, do I have to do the same with that one, which also expects a password I never created?

Guessing the code, BTW, is not terribly rewarding. You get 10 guesses before it locks out and requires restoring iOS and setting up as a new phone. And iOS 12 has a setting that prevents that. The pin finder has always been a weak spot, but until some "helpful" users posted a link to it kids would have been unlikely to find it.

The problem with Face ID is that until the Xs and Xs max the phone could only hold one face ID. Both that and fingerprints require the phone to be unlocked with a passcode if it has been powered off or reset.

Yes, great idea to go to another platform than Apple. However, no matter what platform you go to you will find features that you don't like. Such as Google spying on virtually everything that you do if you go to Android.

Think this through. The Restrictions Passcode was in an iOS 11 backup. That means that Restrictions were enabled in iOS 11, before you updated to iOS 12. So Restrictions was ON before you updated. If Restrictions had not been enabled in iOS 11 there would have been no Restrictions Passcode to recover from an iOS 11 backup.

Note that the Restrictions may have been enabled any time in the past, on any version of iOS, on this phone, or on any phone that was backed up and then restored to this phone. So it's possible that all of your phones and iOS versions have had Restrictions enabled, but you didn't notice until now.

It's not a bug. If you ever had a passcode for Restrictions then that passcode is now your Screen Time passcode. Many people don't remember setting a Restrictions passcode especially if they were just playing around with what options the Restrictions had and then never went into them again.

Regarding your iPad, go into the Restrictions and make sure there isn't a passcode. If there isn't, then you shouldn't have any problems upgrading to iOS 12 on the iPad and there won't be a passcode for Screen Time.

I also have an iPhone 6s. Have you tried calling Apple Support directly for a tech support technician? I get through using #800-676-2775 or 800-692-7753 Also go to Settings and type in the search bar Control on Lock Screen.

You could try a third party password recovery tool as suggested earlier but you will be putting a lot of trust in someone else's software and giving it access to all your "sensitive" BackUp data, although they do say nothing is actually transmitted!

If you simply don't remember the Restrictions Passcode you used previously, you'll have to restore your phone and not from backup. You can then bring your apps, photos, music, messages over after you've restored the phone. Again, DO NOT RESTORE FROM BACKUP.

This link will tell you how to restore from a forgotten passcode. There really is no other way around this: If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

You may not have forgotten ScreenTime code, from what they are saying in the other discussion if you had Restrictions enabled the iOS12 update carries over the same passcode to ScreenTime, so can you remember your old Restrictions code, if so try that.

I'm going to make your day worse. If you restore from backup, the same issue will present itself as the passcode that you can't remember is included in the backup. Don't restore from backup. You're going to have to restore your phone as new and rebuild things over again.

When I upgraded to iOS 12 it automatically turned on screentime and chose a passcode for screentime for me without my knowledge. Just as a guess, it tried using the first 4 digits of my 6 digit iPhone unlock code. It worked! I was able to turn off screentime. Phone call to apple support was unaware of this possible fix.

You most likely used that 4 digit code for your restrictions passcode on your previous phone. Assuming you did, the new phone simply used the stored passcode you had set (maybe years ago) which is contained in your backups.

Then you had a Restrictions Passcode setup on your iPad. Since you had a Restrictions passcode, when you updated to IOS 12, that is now the passcode for Screentime. If you didn't set up a restrictions passcode on your iPad, you likely set up your iPad when you got it from a backup of your iPhone at the time. The passcode is part of the backup.

I had this happen to me, with a sort of glitch where there were already four failed passcode attempts as soon as the update was downloaded. I tried so many things, all possible passcodes and nothing worked.

Recently, I forgot my passcode for iPhone and now find myself locked out of the device. It's quite distressing because I have numerous personal files, essential contacts, and important data stored on it. I desperately need to regain access to my iPhone as soon as possible.

Getting locked out of your iPhone is a real pain, especially with all your important stuff trapped inside. I totally get why you'd be looking for a way to bypass the passcode. Unfortunately, bypassing the iPhone passcode isn't straightforward due to Apple's tight security measures. But don't lose hope! Here are a couple of things you might try:

iTunes Recovery Mode: If you've ever synced your iPhone with iTunes, this could be your ticket in. You'll need to put your iPhone into Recovery Mode and then connect it to the computer you've synced with. iTunes will give you the option to restore your iPhone, which wipes the data along with the passcode. The silver lining? If you've got backups, you can restore your data from there.

There is really only one way to get in a phone if you have forgotten the passcode and that is to erase it using a computer and then restore it from backup after you get back in. There is no bypass for a forgotten passcode.

If you forget your iPhone password, you can unlock it in many ways, but unlock it without data loss, this is unlikely, cuz this is how Apple designed their product, you can't unlock it without data loss even if you ask Apple support for help.

Here's how to restore your iPhone to unlock it, Apple official support link, but i will show you the straight way too.If you see a iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro unavailable message or Security Lockout screen - Apple Support

You cannot bypass the passcode once it is setup to be used. What you can do is reset the passcode. In the process of resetting the passcode, all your data, on the iPhone, will be deleted. Once the password has been reset, then you can restore your iPhone from a backup file that you may have created on iClod or on a computer. Detailed response below.
