Hi SntrkCan,

Can you describe me what is going wrong?
What you list seems quite ok.

In the 0.9 I have changed some things.
Like a link to look up the twitter id, which makes you life easier :)

The mod_twitter will only import new tweets, not existing.
Didn't it receive any tweets?

Hello,

i'm running a local zotonic 0.8.1 and preparing a blog for a customer of mine.

Everything works fine, but Twitter is driving me mad.
I don't know what it is i'm doing wrong.

So let me tell you what i have done so far:

1) i read the documentation on http://zotonic.com/mod-twitter
2) my first mistake: i entered the keys to the zotonic/priv/sites/mysite/config. file. maybe it is possible to specify it in the documentation like "in the 'config' section of the admin panel, create 2 new config keys:", and create the necessary keys.
3) after i realized where to put the keys, i did enter the username and the password in the admin panel: Menu Config. now working fine (output on the console: 12:43:03.135 [info] turconomics: Username = "SntrkCan".)
4) then i needed to put the twitter id for each user ( admin, and a user named "Can" ). i took the id's from here:https://api.twitter.com/1/users/show.xml?screen_name=turconomics  (just change the parameter screen_name to whatever you need: example Obama )
5) i checked if sidebar.tpl does have the twitter tags, yes it does
6) so: value for m.category.tweet from sidebar.pl is "{m,m_category,{cat,332}}"
7) value for "r" from sidebar.tpl:  "        {% with m.search[{latest cat='tweet' pagelen=4}] as r %}" which is:
result: {m,m_search,
   {m_search_result,latest,
                    [{cat,"tweet"},{pagelen,4}],
                    {search_result,[],1,undefined,undefined,undefined,
                                   undefined,undefined,undefined},
                    undefined,undefined,0,undefined,undefined,undefined}}

And here is the point i need help.

what is it i'm doing wrong?

http://zotonic.com/docs/ref/modules/mod_twitter.html
maybe contains more up-to-date info.

This site helps you find the twitter id as well:

Hello Marc,

to your question about what it is, that goes wrong: the twitter module does not view any incoming tweet at all.

To be on the sure side of receiving frequently new tweets, i put the ID of "Obama" to admin and the user. But it didn't work.

I will now update to 0.9 and give you feedback.

Thank you for your help.

Hello Arjan,

thank you for your reply. Actually i was not really able to fix it.

To your www.mytwitterid.com: if the twitter account is private, the page crashes. But beside that, it's a great, light-weight tool.

Currently i updated to the current 0.9 version, which is no release currently, and realized other problems. So i will downgrade to 0.81 again and keep the site running without twitter.

Thank you very much,

Can

Hello Marc,

i checked out 0.9, but then i had other small issues after i created a new 'blog'.

So now, since i do believe in zotonic, i persuaded my customer to start without twitter. So i hope we will go online on wednesday next week.

We will solve the problem later.

But thank you for your help.

Can.

Hi SntrkCan,

warning: I am a newbie in Zotonic :) and I'm using Zotonic's 0.9 version.

I've just followed the steps in http://zotonic.com/docs/ref/modules/mod_twitter.html and it worked for me.

I've did successfully the following tests:
- test mod_twitter in my laptop and in a VPS that I'm currently using to learn Zotonic.
- test different twitter's accounts (my personal account @keoko and public one @CHISTES)

What I noticed in the REPL is that I started receiving the tweets after receiving the trace in black below.

19:22:52.962 [info] Twitter: (thesite) Username = "keoko"
19:22:54.271 [info] Streaming data start [{"transfer-encoding","chunked"},{"content-type","application/json"}]

19:23:44.421 [info] Twitter: imported tweet 355 for user_id 1

I hope it helps,
Natxo
