I've put in a round of work on MLZ to tidy up and fill out the legal item types, based on citation samples illustrated in the (still upcoming ...) MLZ book. The client now runs without error and syncs successfully to the Zotero servers. I the new layout will make the system more accessible to legal-type users (so to speak).

Unfortunately, the remodelling required some entirely new furniture: there are five new item types, and 19 new variables. This has produced some holes in the Bibliontology RDF export, which I would like to fill in an extended translator. Some things look difficult to squeeze into dc:terms or bibo. As one example, to adequately describe a bilateral or multilateral treaty, we need to show (1) the date the text is adopted, (2) the date the treaty is opened for signing, (3) the signing date [for bilateral treaties], and (4) the effective date. So ... I think I have two questions this evening:

* For stubborn problems like the dates issue, would it make sense to approach the Bibliontology group about extending the spec? Or is there an alternative out there that might be roped in to provide more fine-grained coverage of dates?

* For smaller that can be addressed within the spec, would it make sense to offer up extensions to the Bibliontology RDF translator, or should be be limited to the MLZ environment?

Sorry that the questions are not more precise. I'm still struggling to get a handle on this.

If it's not too much trouble, this probably is a post for the BIBO list. Some of the questions, though, may go beyond which property to use (or create) and may include also modeling issues.

Am on vacation/traveling, so sorry for a not more satisfying answer ATM.
