Sporadic 500 Errors with api.zotero.org

I'm experiencing sporadic 500 errors (body: "An error occurred" without additional details) while querying data through the Zotero API. When I immediately retry the same URL, it works.

Example URL:

https://api.zotero.org/groups/5080468/items/top?start=1350&limit=50&include=citation&style=technische-universitat-dresden-historische-musikwissenschaft-note&linkwrap=1&locale=de-DE

We are fetching around 2400 documents in blocks of 50, resulting in 48 requests, of which one or two sporadic cause this error. The responses are relatively slow (5 to 10 seconds). Would it be better to request smaller blocks (e.g., 20)?

How can I prevent this error from occurring?
