Zotero translator integration with Sakai

I was wondering if anyone has done some research of integrating the
Zotero translator with a Learning Management System such as the Sakai
system. Sakai has a Citation Helper module implemented and one of the
add on pieces we have thought in this past year is to make this module
'Citation Browser Aware' by passing browser like citations in Open URL
1.0 format and developing a servlet that is able to interpret this
format for later storage and retrieval.
