Greetings,

Is there a way to import from CSV? Zotero has a nice Export to CSV format option. I am wondering if there is a plugin or other option to take the same order of fields produced in the export CSV and then import... Both with or without the item identifying key.... with the key would be for editing existing records via an outside tool and then updating the existing records, while without a key would create a new record.

all the best,
- Hugh

The CSV export makes some choices that are not easily reversible (notably for multi-valued things like tags), I think for that reason it can't be imported back. If you can live with that then it wouldn't be exceedingly hard to convert the CSV to something which van be imported into Zotero -- RIS would probably be easiest.

Thanks, I tumbled down the openRefine  path and am making an export template  for zotero-xml/rdf.  (Is there an xsd file for that format ?)

If I understand you correctly, that’s basically an array in a field situation.  Much like authors and their roles and names.
I just thought there might be something like a chooser menu screen where a csv file’s columns would be manually matched to the columns available in zotero.

Correct.

There isn't. The UI for export options is (pragmatically) limited to checkboxes. It's not impossible to add other UI elements, but you'd have to employ some trickery to make sure they end up accessible to the translator.
