Is this API powerful enough to enable full fledged integration with Google Docs analogous to Zotero's support in MS Word? (see https://www.zotero.org/support/google_docs for more details)
It looks like at least EasyBib is using Google Apps to do a lightweight version of this sort of thing.

There was some discussion here about developing a plugin for Google Docs a while back, but I don't believe it went anywhere. Note that EasyBib just inserts plain text citations (not the live auto-updating citations like in the Word or LO plugins). You can accomplish exactly the same functionality already with Zotero with the Quick Copy function (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + C) or right-clicking on the item and generating a bibliography.
