(How) can I get the range of a selection?

Hi there,

From this conversation, I learned that 'Selected ranges are stored internally, but unfortunately, the variable isn't exposed', but I wonder why some variables have not been exposed. And I also want to know if I can do something to help the community expose those variables. If so, how can I get started?
