Christmas Vacation

going on vacation to see my family this Christmas. I leave today and
will be gone for 2 weeks. What I don't know is what sort of Internet
connection I'm going to have there. I'll be in two places, my
parent's place in the country and then I'll spend some time with
family in Detroit. So, let me wish you all a Merry Christmas, a Happy
Hanukkah, a Happy Quanza, and Happy New Year.
Next year will be a year of change. I plan to try and be downtown for
the inauguration, but if the crowds are too heavy I'll have to just
watch it on TV. They're already making preparations for it by putting
up barriers to direct car and pedestrian traffic in and around Capital
Hill.

I note they made what I consider a serious gaff...
They did not, as in prior years, actually televise the ball moving as
they counted down, but switched between the two talking as they
watched it.
In any case, happy 2009.
Hope this year is better than 2008.

I watched the ball drop on Hulu.com. NBC-Universal and the Times
Square Countdown Association got together and setup live streaming of
the event that started at 10pm and ended shortly after midnight. They
had roving camera men, fixed cameras on buildings and cameras at the
base of the poll the ball drops down. It was interesting. I was
rather surprised that Youtube Live didn't stream from Times Square.
