One of my favorite Fanfiction writer has passed away!
This is an obituary posted on FFN by Jintsu;
I was just informed today of the passing of my good friend, Dale
Carlson. He was found at his home in bed, and had probably died on
Wednesday, the 29th.
Dale had been battling Type-2 Diabetes, and I do believe that he
probably missed a shot
and went into a coma. With no one around to check on him, he slipped
away from us.
Dale and I met on the pages of Fan Fiction Net; he had just published
his first chapter of “A Glass of Wine”, and I read it and wrote him a
review. From there, we corresponded
back and forth, either in e-mail or on the telephone. He also started
doing proofreading
on my stories, while I did the same for him.
We became sounding boards for each others ideas, talking late into
many nights about
how a character would react to situations and plot points. We also
talked about our love
for Astronomy and military aircraft. Our conversations ranged far and
wide, and usually one of us finally had to break off because we had
been talking for more than four hours!
I was going to visit him this past June, but due to finances and being
a caregiver for my mother, it just didn’t work out. Now I wish I had
made the attempt.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any notes on his later efforts; his muse
seemed to be on vacation, and his eyesight made it difficult for him
to type. He told me how he wanted to end some of them, but never put
it down for me to see.
A truly good man, a better writer than myself, and gave freely of
himself to the fanfic community.
I will miss him.
Thank you Dale, for all of your help, your insights, and your positive
outlook when mine was down in the toilet.

My response;
WHOA! That took me like a sledge hammer to the Stomach.
He was as of the past week rewriting a story I started called 'Draw Me
Close'.
He was well into the 5th chapter when the correspondence stopped.
I have to say I am going to miss such a good man and excellent writer.
As with the passing of my father I'll think about him well and imagine
he'll have a lot of time now to write!
My condolences to his family and his fans for losing such a great
storyteller.
