An interesting article which goes into gory detail about the problems
with Windows Vista's Digital Rights Management technology and why it is
eventually going to drive up PC hardware costs and ultimately could
damage the PC industry as a whole.

A blow by blow account of all the major problems with Windows Vista's
multilayered DRM technology and how much it will ultimately cost all of us.

There's been a pissing match as to the validity of his facts that have been going back and forth for a while.  ZDNET is particularly responsible for getting under his skin and attempting to prove him wrong.  I guess time will tell.

Although, I just read an article about how audio hitches much worse in Vista than in any other operating system.  Some are blaming it on DRM, others on the fact that Vista is so resource hungry.  Thanks, but I'll stay with XP as long as I can.  I'll give up the small measure of additional security for not having people slapping my wrists for stuff I didn't do. (DRM)  That just totally irks me.

The reason for the heavy resource usage of Vista is due to the DRM.
There are multiple layers of DRM in the OS that are monitoring the
system all the time and that takes up system resources, not to mention
that these services like many Windows services probably have memory
leak issues which tend to slow the system down over time.
