The European Union has launched an investigation into the methods in
which Microsoft has been pushing their proprietary (they say its open
but it really isn't) file form Office Open XML for standardization with
the International Standards Organization. From what I have heard for a
while now Microsoft has been using underhanded tactics to try and
undermine the OpenDocument Format. In one instance they went so far as
to have an employee offer bribes to officials to sway the vote then
denied it ever happened.
