How I was able to fix my DVD playback issue was by installing the CSS
codec for encrypted DVDs following the instructions in Ubuntu's own
How-To website and installing VLC. I've used VLC on Windows for a long
time and its one of the best video players around. Xine won't work
anymore and Totem is useless for DVDs but it still works for Divx/Xvid
and MPEG video files. I've got a substantial collection of Anime
fansubs which I watch on a regular basis. Anyway, I am really enjoying
my time with Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 and I will be recommending it
everyone I know except for the one person who already has a great
non-Windows OS .... Mac OS X!
I still have to keep XP around though because there are some programs I
use which don't have Linux alternatives like Final Fantasy XI which is
an MMORPG and won't work under Wine.
