Indian engineering students devise anti-rape lingerie that delivers electric shocks

It is indeed very shocking and disturbing for the masses when a women gets raped by insomniac sexual predators and India seems to be in the limelight for this very horrendous act of humanity owning to the number of rape cases reported lately. Having got fed up with all this hooliganism three students from the SRM University, Chennai; Manisha Mohan, Niladri Basu Bal and Rimpi Tripathi have developed anti-rape lingerie called SHE (Society Harnessing Equipment) which protects unassuming women to fend off any such psychotic predators lurking on the streets. The undergarments have pressure sensors woven around the bust and underwear area to detect any unusual pressure or force, thereby triggering powerful 3800 kilowatt shocks to the offender delivering about 82 electric shocks. Not only that the inbuilt GPS and GSM modules send a SMS to the emergency number and parents with the location so that help can be send immediately.

The team is working on developing a fabric that can be easily washed off without damaging the circuitry so that they can roll out the high-tech lingerie anytime this month. Also they are fine tuning SHE to make sure that it can detect a molesting or raping situation from that when there is mutual consent. Usually when someone initiates a rape attack they attack the bosom area and therefore a circuit board is also placed in that area.

Studying in a convent girls school, we were always taught to be good to everyone around and bear a cheerful smile. ‘After stepping into the real, cruel world we realized that our smile could not last for long as the threat to our purity and integrity always lingered on. Since the law makers take ages to come up with just laws and even after that, women are unsafe. Hence, we have initiated the idea of self‐defense which protects the women from domestic, social and workplace harassment.
