There are technical advantages to having that popup. Let’s just say it
gives the entire page with thousands of images time to load. You see,
just imagine if you put that many images on a webpage how long it
would take to load. All the time it takes to load those images, you
have probably lost 9 out of 10 visitors to your website because it
took longer than 3 seconds to load. Rather than lose the customer,
give them something to look at while the page prepares to work at its
utmost efficiency.
As for me, its pure genius. :)
