Hi folks. 'Not exactly a newbie, so generally had no problems with
MIDI before (keyboard patches, driving MIDI sound sources, etc.) - but
I'm out of ideas on patch bank migration failures:

Have inexpensive USB MIDI i/o, which works fine with old Cakewalk
program and MIDI synth. Have d'l-ed Zoom patch ed/lib, and played with
some tweaks (assuming no problem to push SysEx to pedal)...wrong!
Following directions, I'm greeted with "device timeoutting" on Zoom's
software, the pedal remains at SysEx Rx, and no LEDs were flashing to
indicate the software ever even tried to Tx the batch.

To infer normal LED activity, I tried the reverse (sending from pedal
to PC); still a timeout, but at least the MIDI activity LED showed
that the pedal was transmitting - the software still timed out. In
frustration, I swapped the MIDI cables on the pedal from O->I & I->O
to O->O & I->I...still no joy, and hadn't expected any.

Is there some magic with Channel assignments that isn't in the manual
or on the web? Thx for any help!

Paul,
I had the same problems.  In my case I found that the sound card has to be set to the midi system instead of the standard sound card.  This can be done from the library under the midi tab or from the control panel for sounds settings.  Let me know if this fixes the issue.

Good luck,

Eric

Thx Eric; 'good thought - had gone there early on (and confirmed that
sound card was the pedal). I did get the SysEx to go finally; and it
seems an ideosyncracy:

Out of ideas, I just toggled the MIDI online button OFF, then back ON
<hoping for some form of re-initiation between the two pieces of
hardware>, and it worked!

Oddly, it seems to require this little two-step before each dump, but
if done in advance, the SysEx transfer does complete successfully.
I'm more inclined to blame my ten dollar MIDI interface instead of the
three hundred dollar pedal...!
