I had a discussion once with a Whippet breeder in CA that breeds top ranking Whippets. I was concerned because a litter of my one of my dog's litter mates had shown aggression on the field. She has a theory that the pups get their prey drive and temperament from the Dam.
Bonnie, what have you found to be the case?
