Searching the Borzoi Pedigree Database

Currently the Borzoi Pedigree Database has a somewhat clumsy method of
lookling dogs up. You use the link from the front page:

Borzoi Pedigree Index.

Then you choose one of the kennel name specific subindices on the left
or you choose the letter the dog's name begins with and then you
either scroll down the list or (faster) use the "find in this page"
option from your Browser's control menus. (At least in Firefox it is
Edit >Find in this page or Control Key +F). The latter is the fastest
way to do it as most of the alphabetic indices have at least 1000
names in them.

I am investigating putting a search script on the site. Right now I am
trying the specialized google search utility but I don't seem to have
it working correctly yet. I need to generate something called a site
map which is one of today's tasks.

There are some "free search engine for your site" services but they
only catalogue 250 pages for free and the paid services want around
$150 for each 1000 pages. Since BorzoiPedigrees.info now some 46,000+
pages this is not practical to pay for.

If people who have browsers other than Firefox can give me feedback on
how they obtain searches within pages I will add that information to
this note.
