Dear Zohar Community,

Dance Etiquette Reminder

To ensure a productive and respectful environment for all dancers and instructors, we ask that everyone adhere to the following etiquette guidelines:

  • Arriving Late: If you arrive after class has begun, please quietly enter and take a place at the back of the studio unless the instructor invites you to move forward. In ballet classes specifically, please wait until the current barre exercise is complete before joining in.

  • No Assigned Spots: While we understand the comfort of routine, please remember that there are no assigned spots in class. Flexibility in placement helps maintain a cooperative and inclusive atmosphere.

  • Corrections: When an instructor is offering feedback—whether directed to an individual or the entire class—please refrain from talking. Every correction is an opportunity to grow, and attentive listening benefits all dancers.

  • Spatial Awareness: In more advanced classes, particularly during across-the-floor or progression exercises, please be mindful of spacing and travel. If you're less familiar with the choreography or class format, we encourage you to move toward the end of the group. This allows more experienced dancers to complete phrases without interruption and helps maintain flow.

Studio Cleanliness Reminder As a shared space, we ask that everyone take responsibility for helping to clean up after class. We continue to find wet paper towels left on the floor, paper cups left on the counter, and pools of water on the dance floor.

In warmer weather, when sweat can make the floor dangerously slick, using a personal towel when lying on the floor is strongly encouraged to help maintain a safe environment for everyone.

We’ve heard comments like “It’s not mine” or “I didn’t do it,” but ultimately, it shouldn’t fall on instructors to clean up after class. Let’s all do our part to keep the studio clean and safe.

These guidelines are offered with care and the intention of fostering a focused, respectful, and enjoyable learning environment for all. Thank you for being considerate of your fellow dancers and instructors. Let’s continue to support each other’s growth in class.

With gratitude,

Vivian Sam & Daynee Lai-Krauss
