I have a repo entitled letters. The file extension for the files saved is ".txt". I create a file, give it the name "Pending". Here I create a series of letter headers making a heading level one title (hash followed by space and then title) for each letter. The heading title is just the name of the addressee. Then I start writing the letters. When one letter is written I cut the heading title line and the body and paste to another file in the same repo with the title "Done". I do this for letter after letter so that slowly "Pending" shrinks and "Done" expands. Then, all of a sudden I see that "Done" has disappeared. And the Zettel notes file system shows two copies of "Pending". This has happened twice.

Maybe related? There are things I don't understand going on in filenames. I created a new untitled doc. Wrote in "My_title" in the filename box that had the ghosted "Untitled" in it. Wrote a line of text and exited the document to the Zettel file manager. Sure enough there was a file entitled "My_title". Then I opened the file and put in a level one heading : "Content". All of a sudden the document window title is "Content". When I exit to the Zettel file manager the file name is "Content". When I try to rename the file in the Zettel file manager, the rename box shows "My_title" as the filename! Exiting to the Android file system the name of the file remains "My_title".
Maybe this mysterious behavior is a feature? (I don't know anything about Zettel notes and I switched from Google Keep only because there are no character limits in Zettel notes and it deals with right to left languages adequately.)

Hey,

Welcome to the community. You should read the documentation for Zettel Notes at https://www.zettelnotes.com/. This covers many points.

The feature you are talking about is note title. Read more about it here at https://www.zettelnotes.com/repository/. 'Content' is the note title that is parsed and set according to the behavior set in Zettel Notes repository settings. You can also set the title to be set from filename of the note.

With respect to the first feature, can you please share a video file or screenshots, that would help in solving this issue.

Regards,
Rohit
