Bug: Relative link to picture is not working

A relative link to a picture is not working in a markdown file.

Let's say we have some pictures in a subfolder "images" next to the markdown file. If we now have a link inside the markdown file, like:
[Picture-1](images/example.jpg)

Above relative link is not working.

But if the picture is embedded (note the ! at the beginning), like this:
![Picture-1](images/example.jpg)

then it is working.

The ! version is the supported markdown format. Read more about official markdown at https://commonmark.org/help/tutorial/08-images.html.

Thanks for the feedback. I know I can embed my images with this ! version. Probably it was wrong from my side to declare this topic as a bug.

But sometimes I want just have a link in my md-file (without seeing the image as embedded) and only if I click on it, the image is shown.
Maybe this is more as a new feature of allowing open links to locale documents (e.g. via its default app). So also working for relative pdf-files and other file types.
