I need your help for something : as some of you might know, we now
have a little tool that allows us to see whether a particular subtitle
file's contents fit within our guidelines, and if not, which subtitles
could be improved (http://wiki.zmlingteam.org/w/
Linguistic_Team_Guidelines).

Here's the link : http://tzmlt.byethost22.com/

To use this tool, you have to download the subtitle file from dotSUB,
and feed it to this page using the "browse" button on top. You then
click on "Analyze this" which displays the results.

What I'd need from you guys is :
- to actually use this tool (duuh) to help you with your transcription/
proofreading/timeshifting tasks,
- to give me some feedback on potential bugs.

For example, Dave aka Mr. B has given me some precious comments on
things that didn't look right to him, and it turns out those were bugs
in the code.

As you can see, the script isn't hosted by us yet. The goals are :
- to have a stable, working version of the tool
- to then host it ourselves.

So we're kind of in the beta testing phase right now.

Thanks for your help !

I wanted to let you know that the URL for the the analysis script has
changed, and I added a little something :

I created a little script that allows us to compare two subtitle files
and tell us which strings are different. It is available here :
http://tzmlt.byethost22.com/compare/

Georgy's script (http://ostropero.com/cgi-bin/tools/zeitgeist/srt/
diff.pl) does exactly the same thing, but I wanted a more concise
presentation :).

As I said the URL for the original analysis tool has changed, it is
now available at:
http://tzmlt.byethost22.com/analyze/

See ya !

How nice Bruno!! thanx : ) That is an amazing tool for the transcribers and timeshifters at least!! I wonder if there is something we can develop to help the proofreaders in a similar evaluation of the SRT texts? Maybe one that checks for comas in the end of the string could be handy, no?
