还有个问题就是我一直是用本本打字的,看到蜀宁在借键盘,想知道这个是不是影响挺大的,这样的话我的赶紧换呀...

Issue 48
"The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The
most significant events and trends in history were made possible not
by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long
been forgotten."历史研究把太多重点放在对某些个人上.历史上一些重大事件和发展趋势不是由个别名人决定的,而可能是由那些已经被淡忘
的人制造的。

Whether the history is motivated by some outstanding individuals or
some unknown groups of people? Within my understanding of history, I
tend to agree that the most significant events and trends in history
were made by a group of people who have been forgotten, but nowadays,
the study of history place too much emphasis on individuals.
Some people may hold an opinion that it is the famous one, the hero
and the leaders of revolutions who make the world as we live in today.
Without Martin Luther King, the African Americans still lead a
miserable life, without Tomas Edison, we still live in a dark world
having no bulb, without Roosevelt, America is still in the Great
Depression. Their claims are ostensible at first sight, conceded that
the great people do influence the history to some extent. However,
when we consider the whole history of human beings, the conclusion
won’t like that. From three respects comes up the answer.
One respect has to do with revolutions. Almost all the historians
would agree that revolution, as product of productive relations
incompatible with productive forces, is always potentially hidden in
each aspect of a society. As science and politic theory develops so
fast, and the technique blooms are just around the corner, while the
social form at that time limits this development, the revolution would
occur. It is no doubt that every successful revolution needs a good
leader; however, this must base on the background which “need” such a
core.
Another respect to be considered is science and technique which
improves the quality of our lives. Thousands years ago, human beings
live in an uncivilized world companied with fear and unsafe feelings,
while we lead convenient lives today. Many people contribute to
improvements of life, among which are the unknown as well as the most
famous like Einstein and Newton. Many of invention are considered by
chance, like an apple falls onto Newton’s head making him discover the
law of gravitation. Granted ignoring that a lot historians have
demonstrate the story is not true, things is quite possible that
without Newton, there may be another one to discover the gravitation
with the trend of science developing. A conclusion can be drawn that
science developments and technical inventions are follow the main
stream of productivity improvement. What’s more, people often admire
the one who win fame but ignore the group of people beside them, as
most people just know the first astronaut making the first step on the
moon but have no idea about the hard working group carefully designing
and checking equipment beside him.
The third respect comes to the leader of a society or a country. They
are a group of people remembered by people either by one’s great
policy or by one’s sandals. People often relate the condition of a
society to the leadership of authority, but actually it is all the
people in the society to lead this society moving. A good decision is
based on the real condition and compatible with people’s lives. Though
these decisions and policies may be partly determined by the leaders,
but mostly by the ordinary people, moreover, it’s the average that
carried out these decisions.
In sum, the river of history constitutes from numerous people whose
identities have long been forgotten along with the spark of famous
individuals. When we study history and memorize the great individuals,
we cannot ignore these unknown groups as small drops of water in the
river.
