Gday,
Quake3 Arena is running quite eratically on my pc. (on or off the net)
It's like having a ping of about 600. FPS are ok...between 35 & 100.
Strange thing is though, it seems to run fine in certain areas of the map
and realy laggy in other areas, except map2 which the whole map is laggy.
I have tried all versions (1.05 1.06 1.07 & 1.08) all giving same result.

All other games on my pc are running ok.

Have also installed latest Voodoo3 drivers.

If anyone has any info that may help me run smoothly again please let me
know.
My system:
cel466
asus p3b-f
128mb ram
Voodoo3 3000
Monster MX300 sound

Have you tried turning the detail down a notch or two? I've noticed this
also...while I'm not getting near those FPS, it'll just get REALLY slow...the
animation and stuff goes along fine, but aiming is choppy. Esp. if I fire a
rocket while zoomed in (No, I've never done this in a real game, just testing
stuff :) )...I haven't figured out what my prob is...if it's the same, it have
to do w/ the 3Dfx drivers...I happen to be using a V2 (And I really hate seeing
all these TNT2s and V3s w/ 450+mHz CPUs...)

Try the WickedGL drivers...here are some tests Using the Voodoo3 3000 in
Quake3. ( on a p3 560mhz )

http://www.wicked3d.com/products/wickedgl/test560.htm
They also have tests on a 400mhz P2
http://www.wicked3d.com/products/wickedgl/test.htm

They helped noticably for me.

One thing to try would be disable your sound card and see if this makes any
difference to things. It could be a compatability issue between the two.
Does this problem occur on any other games with this set up?

I tried the WickedGL drivers for Quake2 and my Quake benchmarks
(timedemo 1, massive and crusher) and Wintune98 benchmarks went down a
few points. Although the actual game (Q2) with WickedGL installed seems
much faster. So what's the deal?

I have a Voodoo3 3000
