G,day
Finally after years of playing Quake series I thought i'd have a go at
making some DM maps.
I downloaded Q3Radiant & had a look at the program for quite some time but
as you know there isn't any help/tutorial etc. on how to use the program.
I've got so many ideas just waiting to be put into action but I don't know
how to do it.

If anyone knows where I can find any (getting started) info or any info at
all on how to use Q3Radiant, I'd be forever greatful!!!

Try waiting a bit for Q3 support for QuArK.
That program is much easier to use and
the interface makes some sense.

I'm just curious, what about the Q3Radiant interface
don't you like?

I previously used Worldcraft for level editing, but
find that Q3Radiant is an easier editor to use.
It took be about a week to learn most of the functionality
of the program.

To pine in my two-cents worth, the biggest problem is that is does not
follow normal Windows convention. For example, "object selection" should be
the left-mouse button. Instead, it's "Create Brush". And, cut/copy/paste
should be Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C, and Ctrl-V. I can't remember what "^C" and "^V"
does, but "^X" certainly doesn't cut - it kicks you out of the program! And
for another one, to delete or insert objects, normally "delete" and "insert"
is pressed. In Q3Radiant, it decreases and increases the size of the grid.

You are right in that it takes about a week to learn. I know it now and it
doesn't bother me as much. But a Windows-Standard interface would have taken
maybe two days to learn, since most people expect all the keys to work the
same. It just makes no sense to remap and entire keyboard.

Actually it is Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-V to paste.
At least Ctrl-X gives you a warning before quitting,
but why the hell have that set to a keyboard shortcut,
so you can really conveniently lose all your work?
I agree, some of the keyboard mapping makes no sense
at all.

I -really- wish the camera worked the same way as it
did with Worldcraft. That was an extremely intuitive
and easy thing to use.

I first used Qoole.
Now that was some tool.
I got about 6 other tools, but I just don't like the way
Q3Radiant works. I haven't used it much, but that's just
because I didn't know how to use it properly.
first of all, try selecting the bottom brush in a cube.
I haven't figured out how to do it whithout using the 3D editor.
Second the 3D editor doesn't work for me. I just don't like it.
Third, the way U have to implement properties for lights and stuff.
