I'm trying to connect to TF but all I get is the message

"map model file does not match (maps/2fort5.bsp),
<large number> != <otherlargenumber>/<largenumber>
you may need a new verions of the map or the proper install files"

My install files have been working fine thankyou very much, but now
apparently they are not good enough.

There have been no upgrade announcements that I can see in the newsgroup or
on the quake web page. What gives?

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Yeah, I and a few friends have had a problem of simmilar nature, All I
could put it down too was somehow the map has been corrupted. What did we
do?? download it again:) I think it happens when i go and play on
another server and the map may be slightly different, eg a pac in a
different spot or containing different things.Or maybe the machine locked up
while playin, Even scandisk can do funny things if left to its own devices,
I'm not to sure on this but no doubt someone will let me know if i'm wrong

Thanks for that. Makes sense. I did download again but same. Will try again.
After renaming old file to "junk".
Maybe a bad sector on the disk EEK!

Well I tried downloading from ftp//quake.zip....... etc and it still didn't
work so I deleted the bsp file and let quake download it. Now it works.
Seems that the ftp site may have a bad map.
