NEW YORK, April 3 (UPI) - Hot on the heels of a recommendation by a
U.S. Supreme Court arbitrator that New York and New Jersey share Ellis
Island, New Jersey lawmakers and developers are reportedly ready with
plans for the 22.5 acres the arbitrator said should be New Jersey's.
Former New Jersey Congressman Frank Guarini tells the New York Times he
believes there is room for a hotel, a conference center ``and other
facilities'' on the island, and he and other officials want the 1.5 mile
temporary pedestrian bridge that was built for workers replaced with a
permanent one for tourists.
