I'm having trouble using bold in the editing function. If it's bolded from the original source, I can't unbold it, & it's not recognizing the changes I make in bold in the edit window. I even tried to copy & paste to & from another html editor to make the changes, & they're not being recognized. The only remedy seems to be to go back to the original source, edit there, & regrab it. This is a bit of a pain after I've done a significant amount of editing down blog posts to fit the newsletter format. I've tried different browsers & added Chrome extensions to mirrors Explorer. Any other suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Chris

Any insights on this since January? My boss keeps asking me why certain things aren't bolded & I have to point out that it is bolded, but it's not showing up & I can't fix it. Any help remedying this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Christopher,

I've located one of your blog pages so I will investigate this one and report back to you as soon as I can.

Paul.

Hello Christopher,

I did spend a considerable time looking into this and I concluded that the problem relates to changes in the original HTML coding standards.

However, I don't think I documented my findings, so I will have to revisit this and see if I can recall my thoughts on this.

If you can provide me with a link to the latest source web page which you are having trouble with, it will help in finding a solution. I will look at it right away.

Thanks,

Christopher,

I located the HTML test files which I had previously been experimenting with. The main problem seemed to be that Zinepal was, in some cases, not recognising the bold text (identified by the HTML <strong> tag.

The only way I found to overcome this was by explicitly defining the <strong> tag within a <style> section as follows:

<style>
  strong {font-weight:bold}
</style>

When I included this definition in my HTML files, the <strong> tag always worked correctly where it previously had not.

Your HTML files are more complex than mine but I wonder if you can try including this definition somewhere in your source files to make it work for you.

Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul. I'm back with the same problem for another issue of our newsletter. I am hesitant to go back to the blog file and reupload it because Zinepal also seems to arbitrarily introduce spaces at the end of posts and elsewhere in the text. I imagine this is some issue with the code too, but since I can't access the code in Zinepal, I can't find and fix it. I almost have a newsletter ready to print, and if I redo things in the original blog post, it will set me back considerably.
