It's nice to see that Dreamkiller is heading in the direction I hoped: stupid and proud of it. Whether it will be all that and worth playing remains to be seen - opinion is quite divided on Painkiller (and more so on Painkiller: Overdose developed by Dreamkiller devs, Mindware). With Serious Sam 3 on the way, there's perhaps fresh interest in an old-school zero-gimmicks FPS, and beyond the ridiculous premise (psychologist enters patients' dreams, shoots monsters and blows shit up) this is as traditional as could be. As the new trailer shows, the team behind it certainly aren't aiming for anything highbrow.
It's an improved attitude over previous appearances. The first time we heard about it a ludicrous press release made claims that could only hurt it. The second time it was a po-faced and overwrought trailer attempting to claim some gravitas. This time, it's the developers grinning about how silly it is, which I suspect is the correct angle.
It's colourful, and looks idiotic enough to maybe be quite fun? I dunno. I hope so - if this can avoid Painkiller's painful repetitiveness (within each level, before someone complains) then perhaps it will work. What do you think?
Dr. Jack Harper: [closing narration] At 6:32 this morning, on Thursday the 1st of November, Clayton Beresford Jr. died on my operating table. Two and a half hours later, his life was saved. There are no excuses for what we did. There's no defense, no-one to blame but us. We got what we deserved. Clay would have his revenge, and justice would finally be served. But despite all the secrets, despite all the lies, and a terrible loss, one thing really matters now. He... is... awake.
Circumstances, including the bottom falling out of the economy, conspired against filmmaker Jerry Deal when he was trying to make a deal with a distributor for the movie he made in the Mt. Shasta area in 2007.
Deal, who wrote, directed and produced Dreams for less than $1 million, calls the story a "mystical family drama" that revolves around a mother of two teenage children (Gray) who has an awakening experience. As described on the website: , the story "delves into that magical lore between reality and illusion, dreams and awake, and life and immortality."
Let me paint you a story. I'm a writer for Geektyrant.com. It's late, but I know I want to get some articles written and help contribute. I find a trailer for a new movie called Ghost House. Cool! I like scary movies! How bad can it be? Well, Since watching the trailer, I have turned on all my lights and have moved to a place where I can run out of my house quickly if needs be, and no, I don't plan on going to sleep anytime soon. Like Ever.
The movie looks terrifying. Maybe because it's late, maybe because the monster in this has a thing for jump scares, maybe it's this new anti-stress medicine I'm on. Maybe it's you. But this thing has given me the hebejebes.
It starts kinda scary with girl running through a street. Fine. Creepy lady comes for her and it's creepy, but not like "I think it's after me" creepy. Then you see girl and guy on a wonderful vacation to Thailand and the guy proposes tot he girl. How sweet. So we won't be getting the usual teenagers do the darndest things in this scary movie. Then some strangers show them to a graveyard, and that's when the hebejebes start creeping in. Anyway. The graveyard is weird, the guys are weird, the way the guy says, "a souvenir" is weird. Then she touches it and I just feel unsettled. Ghost shit starts going down. Dudes run away. Why? Did they know it's evil? Why did they bring them there then? Are these guys just douches who are like, "Hey bro, want to curse some tourists, and maybe get ourselves killed as well?" There are so many questions! The lady honestly reminds me of the picture that looks scarier the longer you look at it. It feels like a foreign film but has English speaking actors. Like The Ring, but better.
I don't know. I'm scared. I don't want to see it, but I kinda do. If only to see it hopefully overplayed to the point that it will get the fear that exists out of my head. Like when I saw the Devil Face Guy in Insidious at first I was like, NOPE, but then I got a better look at him and was chill with it. It's all about perspective. Check out the trailer below. Am I going crazy?

At this point, just about everyone in the entertainment business knows that Paramount Pictures will not make it out of the streaming wars alive. It's not the first time something like this has happened; the real oldheads remember when RKO Pictures failed to make it when the transition to TV came along, and NBC swallowed them wholesale. However, which suitor (Skydance vs Apollo & Sony) will take over the 112-year-old corporation remains up in the air as of this writing. It's enough to give anyone Insomnia....which is perhaps why, when the Great Paramount+ U.K. Cancelation came along a few months ago, Insomnia was spared the axe.
All joking aside, Insomnia had enough internal power to keep itself chugging along while other projects like Castaways and No Escape were tossed overboard. For one thing, author Sarah Pinborough, whose 2022 novel the series is based on, is part of the production and executive producing. For another, star Vicky McClure (Line of Duty) is also an executive producer, and her company, Build Your Own Productions, signed on to fund the series along with Left Bank. In short, having both the author and star that deep in the show's creation (and putting up the money to make it) made canceling it far too awkward a prospect for Paramount+ to contemplate.
So, while most of the series viewers expected to arrive this spring and summer have gone the way of the dodo, Insomnia is completed and will be out before the end of May 2024. There's even a trailer assuring everyone the show is real and will debut on Paramount+... at least on the U.K. side of the pond.
Insomnia follows Emma, who fears she might be losing her mind when her hard-won dream life starts to turn into a nightmare. A couple of weeks before her fortieth birthday, Emma stops sleeping - just as her mother had done right before she suffered a violent psychotic breakdown on the night of her own fortieth birthday. Emma's mother always told her she'd go the same way, that she had the same "bad blood," and now Emma's terrified it's true. As events worsen, Emma's world starts to unravel. She realizes that only by investigating the truth of her painful past can she find the answers to her present and prevent tragedy from striking a second time.
Insomnia will debut on Paramount+ UK on May 23, 2024. While there's a chance the series will also stream on Paramount+ U.S., it is far more likely Paramount will sell the rights to another, more popular streaming service in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled.

Actress Gina Rodriguez (Deepwater Horizon) is fighting for the survival of her family in the post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller Awake and the first trailer looks like there will be quite a few panic-inducing situations.
The trailer begins with Jill and Noah looking out his bedroom window at the night sky. What Noah thinks are shooting stars, his mother says, are actually satellites falling back to Earth. The trailer then shifts to Jill and her kids driving in their car on a perfectly normal day when the radio starts to malfunction. Suddenly, their car is sideswiped by another vehicle.
Netflix dropped the official trailer for their upcoming movie, Awake, starring Gina Rodriguez. The sci-fi thriller, which was first announced in 2019, follows the chaos that ensues after a worldwide phenomenon cuts off all electronics and simultaneously humans' ability to sleep. Rodriguez stars as Jill, an ex-soldier marked by a troubled past who may have the answers to the global issue in the form of her daughter.
The full trailer for Awake was released by Netflix today, a little over a month ahead of the film's June 9 release date. Rodriguez broke her almost year long social media sabbatical to share the trailer with fans, simply writing "AWAKE 2021" in her caption. Open those eyes and check out the trailer below:
